Educational Trainer ~ Genealogical Researcher ~ Professional Writer

Brief Professional Biography

For 38 years, I was employed in various educational positions both at the college and university levels in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Arizona chiefly as an Associate Professor of English, Literature, and Speech Communications. I have also chaired departments, served as a GED Program Coordinator, directed a Veterans' Hospital educational program, and taught English and Journalism in the Upper School at St. Gregory College Preparatory School in Tucson, Arizona.

Over the course of my career, I have gained valuable experience in the design and implementation of curriculum, the advising and training of students of all ages, and the development of effective interpersonal, small group, and public speaking skills. As a professional speaker, I have addressed public and professional audiences on topics both academic and nonacademic in the arenas of corporate training, county speakers’ bureaus, and regional and national educational conferences. I have also designed, written, and edited newsletters for nonprofit agencies, edited and authored two books, one a county centennial history, and one a corporate centennial history, and compiled, composed and secured grants both at the federal and state levels for nonprofit agencies.
